A revised high-end version of the original system with OLED screens was released on October 8, 2021. An overhaul focusing on the handheld of a system called Nintendo Switch Lite was released on September 20, 2019. Nintendo Switch games and software are available digitally through physical Flash-based ROM cartridges and the Nintendo eShop. Nintendo Switch software supports online gaming over an internet connection and ad hoc local wireless connectivity to other consoles. You can also connect it to a grip accessory to provide a traditional home console game pad form, or use it separately like a Wii remote or Nunchuk to support local multiplayer mode. With standard buttons and analog directional sticks for user input, motion detection, and haptic feedback, the Wireless Joy Con controller can be placed on either side of the console to support handheld-style gaming.
